This friends and family shirt is made in honor of Raine's mother who lost a 12 year battle with brain cancer on August 11, 2007. After leaving Arkansas and dropping out of FIT, Martha moved to Paris to pursue modeling and was eventually signed to Agency Glamour. As the story was told to Raine long ago, their parents met because their dad "picked their mom out of the book of models at the agency" and the rest is history. Raine still owns a copy of the very first photograph they took together, signed by Raine's father from Summer 1986, taken at Gare St-Lazare. Martha walked the runway and was photographed for print for designers such as Thierry Mugler, Claude Montana, Kenzo, Hermes, and others, alongside legends like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, before leaving Paris to give birth to Raine. She continued to model until the mid 90s, despite the detrimental effects of the work on her spirit. The print on the front of this shirt features Martha's model card for Agency Glamour taken by Raine's father, Rafael, along with her measurements.

As Martha was transformed by her own experiences, Raine watched her let go of a great deal of self-hatred, self-doubt, and fear spurred on by the same outdated familial expectations, toxic fashion industry standards, and patriarchal ideals many of us navigate today. Having always had a strong love for writing, the editor's letter on the back of the shirt is just one example of the kinds of messages and attitude Martha tried to share with everyone around her, including Raine, throughout Raine's childhood, until she passed. She would have been 56 this year, and Raine wishes more than anything she could be here to tell the tales herself.

Every order comes with a small photocopied selection of photographs of Martha from Raine's collection.

Each shirt is hand printed and hand dyed by Sheep and Raine. No two shirts will be the same. All dyes are unique and images displayed most likely will not be exactly the same as shirt received. Front print size is 17x25 inches. Back print size is 14x18. Printed on 100% 6oz t-shirts. Please allow 4-5 weeks for shipping.
